upper pierce reservoir park

another spot i like to escape to for quiet reflection is the upper pierce park located at upper thomson. the gate leading to the park is open at around 6.00 a.m. and closes at about 7.00 p.m. the entrance is located at the stretch of road which used to form part of the singapore grand prix circuit.

like in most catchment areas in singapore, there are always troops of monkeys waiting to be fed in the vicinity. from the entrance to the park is a distance of about 2km. in the early hours of the morning, you do see joggers along this stretch of road. i once saw a scorpion crawling across the road.

the park is an ideal spot for family picnics.

there is a toilet near the car-park. the toilet's lighting is controlled by sensors. if it is not used for a while at night, the lights will be automatically turned off; they come on 'magically' when someone approaches the toilet.

lay bee's small group - the farrer park group - organised a picnic at this park sometime after the group retreat at fraser's hills.
