melbourne - mt dandenong

another place you should venture to when you are visiting melbourne is the dandies - the mt dandenong area. there is a suburb by the same name; it's not the town you go to, it's the mountain area. to get to the dandenong, you have to get to the end of upper ferntree gully, where it becomes part of the burwood highway.

take the mt dandenong tourist road. if you have children, you might want to stop at belgrave and take the puffing billy to gembrook.

there is a nice restaurant at olinda called the cuckoo restaurant. they serve morning and afternoon teas as well as lunch and dinner. on certain evenings, they have this bavarian floorshow. dinner is about aus$30. service is impeccable. we reached the restaurant after lunch but they managed to whipped up something to satisfy our hunger. as some form of compensation, they gave us a discount.
